I went back to school!

June has always been a month of new beginnings. The smell of first rain also brings back memories of  school- the smell of new textbooks, new uniform and new school bag. We went to school after a long summer vacation and met our friends. I remember getting terribly bored at the end of every summer vacation and waiting eagerly for the school to reopen. I used to count days and keep on asking my mom, "Mumma, when is my school going to start?"

Due to ongoing pandemic, this year has brought major changes in the lives of each one of us. Grown-ups are working from home and little ones are schooling from home.

Recently, I visited my Grandma's place. My cousin, who is in 9th std., had her first day of school from home. My grandfather seemed really worried and at the same time excited about how all this is going to work out. I went to my cousin's room when her class was going on. She disconnected the headphones and told me to listen whatever was going on. I sat there for sometime watching all the fun. Some students were asking silly questions, making noise and teacher was scolding them. After sometime everyone settled down and the teacher started teaching again. I was enjoying it so I sat with her for sometime in her next class also. During that class, teacher got disconnected due to network problem and all the students started talking the way they talk when a teacher goes out of the class. Seeing all this I remembered my class. May be some things stay the same but in a new way.

However, now our favorite part of the week- PT period and playing with friends, won't be same again. Our favorite part of the day- Lunch breaks and sharing tiffins our friends, won't be same again. 

Attending schools from home, giving exams online sounds so futuristic. May be that future is now. May be in normal times it would have been difficult for us to accept these changes. But now we all are going through a tough time. Its our necessity to be a part of this change. Hopefully all this ends soon and everything goes back to normal because the playgrounds, the swings, the benches and the blackboards are waiting...till then
